Racing Reports
British Winter Championship 2007/08 Round 2 – Feb 24th 2008, Tattershall Country Park, Lincolnshire.
As predicted a cold weekend but still lots of fun. On Saturday I attended the Marshall Training session organised by Garry Smith with help from the Lincolnshire St Johns Ambulance. It was an afternoon mixed with theory and practice. Lee and I had a laugh learning how to role each other over from face down in the freezing February water! I played the injured pilot and got rescued on the spinal board – best option I thought with a leaky dry suit! and I also got to practice resuscitation on the doll which was so much harder than I thought – I couldn’t believe just hard you have to press on the chest. It was a good day and I learnt some new skills just hope I never have to use them.
Racing Day – moto 1, not my best I missed the start and was pretty late out of the gate. I came out of hole shot with Kev and it was tight so I backed off and Kev went wide – think it’s a good job we both did that. I chased Kev hard the whole race but couldn’t pass him. Well done to the moto leaders Jim, Simon and Kev. Moto 2 was a better start but I still didn’t do any better in the race this time I was neck and neck the whole way around the hole shot with Graham – I kept looking at him and he kept looking at me and we were just side by side for ages and then Graham took the lead and it stayed like that for the rest of the race. Jim 1st, Simon 2nd, Graham 3rd. Well done everyone and sorry Boss! I am working on my fitness but have soooooooo much course work! Oh and need the sunshine and warm water too.
