British Winter Championship 2007/08
Round 5, April 19th 2008 Tattershall Country Park
How tired! Just arrived back from the USA and jumped straight in the race truck to go racing – and its freezing!!!
Well as you may have read on my recent events page my Mum & Dad amazingly bought me a surprise Superjet to play on in the waves for my birthday and so today when I jumped on my HSR for the first time I nearly flung the pole to the sky – it is so light after riding my little stock Superjet. (I had some amazing fun on my little jet though).
Knew this weekend was going to be great racing though as the line up is pretty full - Jason is here on his Kawadoo in my class so can’t wait. James, Brian, Phil and Ant are all here with their skis too - I love it when the line up is full and everyone is here.
Moto 1 same story as usual for me I am afraid – I missed the start, not sure what happened really just didn’t get the right position and so didn’t get up right but plodded on from the back and finished about 5th I think. Moto 2 – knew I needed to do better for myself so got off to a good start and swept around the outside with Graham – although I am not as strong as he is! I held it until the splitters joined then backed off. Again think I finished about 5th after chasing Tim for the whole race but not managing to catch him. At the risk of sounding boring Moto 3 was a similar story except this time I was just so cold and because I am full of cold too I could feel my chest getting tight with my Asthma so pleased this is the last Moto of the day and it has just reinforced to me that I need to build my fitness back up after my exams to last years level as I can really tell the difference.
Well I was right it was an event weekend – especially for my friends - poor old Chris Bang took a knock so did Ant and Lee and Jason had some bad luck with their ski’s so hope they manage to get everything sorted quickly.
Congratulations to all the Winter Champions and all the best to everyone for the summer season. Special well done to the Girl Power Riders who all made the podium!! Go Girls x
Thank you to all the JSRA Committee for all their hard work in putting on this excellent Winter Series – it’s been great and I love 3 Moto’s.
I hope to see you all at the first round of the British at Stockton in May – although this is right in the middle of my exams – yak!
I will sign off now so you can have a look at all the pictures my mum took at the presentation and celebrations afterwards – we had a great night, Lisa and Steve dancing the night away, Luke wearing my shoes and saying to the barman “ oh my feet are killing me I have been wearing these shoes all evening!!!” and we are sure he believed him – we laughed so much, Oh and then there is the pile up on the floor etc. It was a good night although not sure it helped with the Jet Lag!
Off to revise now – see you soon x x x x
