Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Have you heard about ADHD?  Well I would just like to take 5 minutes of your time to tell you a little about it because my brother Joel has ADHD and the more people understand the better his and other children’s lives are. ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Children with ADHD:

· Find it hard to pay attention
· They have lots of trouble sitting still
· They say things quickly without thinking first
· They have lots of trouble being organised
· They find it really hard to remember things
· They do things without thinking
· They don’t sleep very much and have lots of energy
· They have trouble making friends and being invited to places
· They find learning difficult

Everyone can help children with ADHD. I help Joel by helping him be organised, keeping safe I am always his best friend not just his sister. Medication can help lots of children with ADHD.  The most popular medicine used is one called Ritalin but there are new ones coming along.  My mum is a specialist nurse and is working on a research project looking at a new medicine for children with ADHD.
